Boiler technology has improved dramatically over the last decade. If you currently have an old boiler, you may be missing out on many benefits such as serious savings on your energy bills.
Let’s take a look at why else you should be making the switch today.
Reduces Carbon Footprint
Conventional boilers get rid of their excess heat by simply projecting it out through the flue pipe. However, modern condenser boilers will reuse as much of those flue gases as they can, eliminating the unnecessary waste that is so harmful to the environment.
According to the Energy Saving Trust, if everyone in the UK with gas and oil central heating systems installed a new energy-efficient boiler we would save enough energy to heat nearly 1.9 million homes for a whole year and save around 6.7 million tonnes of CO2.
Making the switch to a new boiler can make a tangible difference to your energy use and the environment.
Reduces Energy Bills
A byproduct of the increased energy-efficiency of modern boilers is that they use a lot less gas and therefore the best performing boilers can save you hundreds of pounds off your energy bill every year compared to a conventional boiler.
All new boilers are given an energy rating label (ErP) which ranks from A – G. Most, if not all, modern gas condensing boilers receive an A rating. The consumer group Which? estimate that if you were to swap from a G-rated boiler to an A-rated boiler you would save at least
£340 a year on your gas bill. The older your current boiler is, the bigger the saving will be when you switch.
Takes Up Less Space
Modern condenser boilers are much smaller than their traditional counterparts, it is not uncommon to be able to fit them into kitchen cupboards. This frees up extra room in your property, and a ceiling to floor “boiler cupboard” is no longer a necessity.
What is more, there is no need for large cold water tanks. The new boilers just heat up the water as and when you need it, which may free up room in the loft for a possible loft conversion or another best use of that space.
Never Run Out of Hot Water
As mentioned above, the issue is with conventional boiler systems, is that they heat up a water tank, and when the hot water runs out you have to wait for it to heat up again before you can use it anymore.
With modern energy-efficient boilers, there’s no adherence to set timers or fearing that there won’t be enough hot water for everyone to have a shower or bath, because the new models simply provide hot water on demand, using far less energy than their predecessors to do so.
As you can see, there are multiple benefits to upgrading to a new energy-efficient boiler. You can reduce your energy consumption to help reduce your carbon footprint, you can save hundreds of pounds off your energy bill, and finally, you can your hot water and heating on demand.
